How Do You Succeed In Life
Does a fancy sports car really make you happy?
Yes and no. So we are surrounded by a materialistic culture that determines how we succeed in life by our possessions. And get to experience first-hand the kind of “happiness” it brings when we obtain a specific title or object. Because you may even feel it from time to time. For instance, buying the new Phone or basking in the scent of a fresh new car. It’s not necessarily bad to have these things. But many times, the reasons why we crave them are a bit misconstrued.
The truth, however, is that success is ephemeral in all areas of life. The smell of the new car will fade. Moreover, new tech, sleeker advanced lighter and better models replaces the new phone sooner, rather than later. Similarly, someone stronger, or smarter will eventually come and beat your record.
So stop chasing the wrong kind of success based on the latest trend on TV and mass media. You consequently end up frustrated, jealous and feel resentment from not being able to keep up with the newest trend. Besides, is it even realistic to keep up??
what is the true meaning of success
How you succeed in life can mean many things to different people. Some consider marrying the “right” person, having beautiful kids, acquiring wealth, or being popular as successful. Meanwhile others want to be recognized and appreciated for their talents in music, arts, sports, etc.
Young women pursue success in relationships in search for security. While young men look for success through significance and recognition or approval from others.
Media and society lets us often conclude that living a successful life means to be extraordinarily wealthy and have a lot of things.
Quite the opposite.
A true measure of success is to live and to live abundantly. This is the meaning of true success. Not the trophies people are collecting in their lives.
Are you happy? Do you make this world a better place for everyone and provide value by serving others? Then you are living an accomplished, fulfilling, beautiful wealthy and extremely successful life in spite of what others may say.
What is Success for Believers and People of faith in יהוה YHWH the Creator?
Hebraic believers are now recovering from end of year feasting and start to prepare for another year serving Elohim. This time before Abib 1, the first month of the Hebraic calendar, is a time of introspection and self examination. How you do succeed in life is based on your personal relationship with Elohim.
How did I do this year? Did I do all to serve and honor my Elohim? Have I shared everything Yah gives me with others? Yah says when we do so we share our lives with Him and serve Him in ways we do not understand. I’m I clothing the naked, feed the hungry, pray for others, heal the sick, provide shelter for one who needs it?
Success becomes an idol in our lives that replaces our devotion to our Elohim. Striving for success turns friends into competitors and can make us prone to corruption, cheating, arrogance, or despair. You do succeed in life by how we chose YHWH over our idols.
Obey יהוה YHWH and you will succeed!
“Do what יהוה YHWH our Elohim commands and follow His Torah. Obey everything written in the Torah of Moshe. Then you will be a success, no matter what you do or where you go” (1 Kings 2:3).
Messiah Yahushua (Yahshua, Yeshua, Jesus) teaches us that success is about seeking first the Kingdom of Elohim. While allowing Elohim to provide for the rest (Matthew 6:33). The good news of the gospel is that we are saved by grace through faith as a gift from our Elohim. And that He loves and receives us as His children through our anointed Messiah Yahshua.
For believers and faithful of יהוה, success is belief in Messiah Yahshua and obedience to all His Torah!
Success therefore is walking with Elohim and experiencing the joy of His presence and favour in our lives. In each situation, confidently give your best efforts and trust the results to Elohim. Knowing that “I can do all things through Him who gives me strength” (Phil. 4:3). Give precedence to the relationships rather than the results and Elohim provides and blesses His faithful. For all things work out for good for those who love Elohim and are called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)
So, may the year ahead be wildly successful for you in יהוה YHWH our Elohim!
“But blessed is the one who trusts in יהוה YHWH, whose confidence is in Him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; it’s leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” – Jeremiah 17:7-8
Success, the opposite of failure
Regardless of how we define it, people spend much of their time, attention, energy, and effort pursuing success. And we can become very discouraged along the way or even lose hope if we think we’ve failed.
An important key step to achieve success in life is to determine the meaning of success for our personal life. The true meaning of success goes far beyond the common definitions of success. Such as having a lot of money, being wealthy, having a lot of friends and earned degrees.
How to define success in life
In order to lead the life that you desire, you must set your own goals and idea of success according to what you want — not what television or your parents want. This is all about you, your life, and idea of success.
So success is not a one size fits all.
It is very important that you know exactly what success means to you as an individual. So as to avoid beating yourself up over things that may be irrelevant to your survival and existence. In other words, consider the weightier matters and brush off all others that do not fit in your lifestyle.
Be aware of what accomplishment, success and prosperity in general means to you in your life. Some might define success as having luxurious cars and a huge mansion. Whereas others consider a life full of joy and happiness with their family as the true meaning of success.
Once you have figured out what is important for you personally you are able to focus on your visions and goals.
Definition of failure
The opposite of success is failure as it means not being able to achieve aims or objectives. Besides, it also can be said that even wealthy and famous people fail in their lives or are unsuccessful. Think about all their scandals, addictions and suicides.
A lot of rich famous popular people of high social status are extremely unhappy with their lives and are not necessarily successful.
Money does not buy success.
Instead, success is measured by values and services you provide to serve others and make the world a better place.
When you leave this earth, will you be missed? what is the highlight of your life? what legend will you leave behind. Are you lighting up the room with a contagious smile that leaves a lot to be desired when you are not around? If this is you, boy are you successful. Success is measured by what you bring to the table each day. What do you have to share to brighten up someone’s day?
The difference between accomplishments and success:
Accomplishments often relate to success, but they are not the same. Accomplishment refers to the results we desire when we attempt to reach specific goals. Basically it is the results that we plan or expect to occur. Success is the positive consequence or outcome of an achieved accomplishment.
The definition of accomplishment
Accomplishment can be seen as the process to become successful and with every accomplished goal you take a step towards prosperity and a life full of success.
Let’s Redefine Success
Without selling yourself short, draft up something everyday, no matter what day it is. As a writer I can write 1000 words of just terrible nonsense. But still be satisfied that I did what I’m supposed to do. To beat myself up because I didn’t write a brilliant post is a false sense of success. All based on expectations that are not my own.
How to achieve success in your life?
- The process of becoming successful starts with elaborate goal setting
- Define a strategy and a plan how you intend to reach your goals, aims and visions
- Keep in mind that success is the consequence of having earned a series of accomplishments. So make sure to divide your goals into easier to reach sub-goals
A lot of needless suffering is rooted in the misplaced concepts of success. Life is about moving forward, not ending up where you started.
What does my daily success look like?
If it makes you happy and requires you to use your skills and effort, then you should do it everyday. The new phone or car — those are just temporary rewards; they won’t last.
The moment you define what the meaning of success is to you, take steps in accomplishing your goals or objectives. You will find joy in things you are doing once you stop trying to please others. And meet their expectations.
Really sit down, even write it out if you have to, and define what success is to you. You can create both short-term and long-term goals.
You do succeed in life as a mother by how you love your children daily. As a single stay at home mom my daily goals consist of teaching my 2 year old son daily. We find creative practical ways like counting cars on the street. Picking up sticks in the playground and more. To learn math, colors, shapes, English, Spanish, French, Hebrew, reading and writing. Reading with him several books including Torah throughout the day. Making healthy delicious meals for him. Taking him out on field trips and to the playground.
Once a week we have kinder music, gymnastics and twice a week we have reading activities at the library.
Making sure the house is tidy, neat, clean and teaching my son to be organized and tidy in the process by letting him clean up after himself. Letting him learn practical skills by helping to prepare meals, do laundry and make the bed in the morning. He loves it and always offers to help. Sometimes he makes more of a mess than actually helping. But that’s how we learn in real life by making mistakes and cleaning up our messes the best we can.
You do succeed as a writer by how well you perform on daily activities to reach your writing goals. As a writer my short term goals are writing daily except on the shabbat, 7th day sabbath. Accomplishing my tasks, and being of service to others. My long-term goals would be finishing and publishing my book, building my readership on my blog, and seeing other’s achieve their goals overtime.
Get right to it-Don’t wait
Freeing yourself from limitations of what other’s perceive as success, is a tremendous opportunity to define life on your terms. You learn to stop chasing things that simply don’t matter. But at one point you thought they did. And instead, you start to focus on the things that help you differentiate progress versus procrastination.
Fruitless emotions of anger, jealousy, and resentment play no part in attaining your endeavors and the ability to succeed. Those are just distractions.
The more you strive to be better than yesterday,
the more success you will feel because progress, at times, can be felt. You can feel it in your body when progressing and working hard towards completing a project. And can see it when you reflect back on when you first started. As well as the leaps that you took to get to where you are today.
Once you remove the veil of what success really means to you, only then can you start achieving it daily. And on your own expectations.
Don’t wait to start living like this. You can start today. As a matter of fact, you should start today. Because continuously living everyday with expectations that are not of your own is a day that is not truly yours.
How can I become more successful in my career?
Discipline yourself to do what you know you need to do when you should do it to be the very best in your field. Whether you feel like it or not. When you feel like it, it’s a lot easier to be disciplined. It’s when you don’t feel like it and force yourself anyways that you move your career onto the fast track.
What decisions do you need to make today in order to start moving toward the top of your field? Whatever it is, either to get in or get out, make a decision today and then get started. This single act alone can change the whole direction of your life.
Planning is key:
- Decide What You Want
- Write it Down
- Set a Deadline
- Make a List
- Organize Your List
- Take Action
- Do Something Every Day that moves you in the direction of your most important goal at the moment.
Decide today exactly what you want, write it down with a deadline, make a plan and take action – on at least one goal – today!
Then determine the price you will have to pay to achieve this goal and then get busy paying that price – whatever it is.
